A note of thanks – Potlatch

This “thank you” appeared in the Community Information Agency Newsletter Volume 19, Issue 2, February 2025, distributed monthly to the Potlatch area community.

During our historical research and reading all the names on the nameplates throughout the Martin Wellness Center, we realized the significant role that Ron and Janie Nirk and their Potlatch community played in remodeling and reopening the therapy pool at the Martin Wellness Center.

We are deeply saddened that their legacy (and the Martins’ legacy) now seems to be an afterthought to Gritman Medical.

Though our delegates requested and were invited to talk to the Gritman Board of Directors on January 29, 2025, it was not enough to delay the planned closing of the Nirk Therapy Pool and Spa.

Some patrons had been coming to the Nirk Therapy Pool and Spa for over 20 years. They lived through the remodel and continued to rely primarily on the therapy pool for rehab and fitness.

Now, we feel grieved and betrayed.
